This 1960 Thunderbird factory sunroof is one of 377 produced with the 430 cid Lincoln engine and is the first known production car. Perhaps 40 exist today. This car has most factory options including leather interior, power windows, power seat, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, rear deck antenna, Sunray wheel covers, exterior chrome package, floor mats, backup lights, fender skirts, and of course the optional sunroof. In addition is has the extremely rare factory radiator shroud that was introduced in 1960.
The car was restored over a 5-year period with over 1000 hours of time invested. Every nut, bolt, and screw was either replaced or refurbished. The restoration included a total rebuild of the drive train and suspension. All new exhaust, stainless steel brake lines and fuel lines, gas tank completed the restoration.
The car has won many trophies and has always placed first in the category entered. In August of this year the car won best of show at the Vintage Thunderbird Club International convention in Costa Mesa, California scoring 298 out of a possible 300 points.
